HR&S brought suit on behalf of Henry Thomas against the Town of Pawleys Island for SCFOIA (South Carolina Freedom of Information Act) violations stemming from public meetings conducted by the Town in 2018 and 2019 when the Town Council failed to allow the public to hear votes to enter executive session, failed to announce the specific purpose for some door-closing votes, and also failed to keep minutes for numerous committee meetings of the Town.
In exchange for dismissal of the lawsuit ahead of the likely January 2022 trial date, the Town paid Mr. Thomas’ attorney’s fees accrued to that point and admitted the violations that occurred in the signed settlement agreement.
